A Drake Nygma Cinematic Production
Part One: And thus began my quest, a lifelong quest
Unending hate. A hate that grew unchecked. Centuries had passed and his hate had only intensified. The world now knew of him as the world’s first murderer. His name had been turned into a horror story told around campfires, in hushed voices as if by even speaking of him he would be summoned, his dark deeds were many and they were legend. As was the reason he had begun killing in the first place.
Not that anyone ever cared to ask what had triggered his decision to act in such brutal ways, had even thought to consider his own ideology. He knew no one asked because humanity was inherently selfish, reckless even as he tried his best to save them from themselves.
As with all ghost stories, with all horror stories there was more to the story than what could be seen on the surface. Drake Nygma: “You know what’s funny? Every story throughout all time offers up a moral, a particular set of ethics and yet the one thing they all fail to account for is what happens when you run up against someone with their own ethics, with their own needs, desires and wants. Despite the vast amount of literature out there, the words that can and should be read by everyone, no one reads anymore, no one thinks about the bigger picture.”A pause would be taken, a companionable silence now filled the air, a silence layered with questions esoteric in nature.Breathing slowly there was something refined, almost sophisticated inside the savage darkness carried within.
Or maybe the sophistication was an illusion that only served a purpose as a mind game, a tool by which to enter the heads of others, play upon their fears, upon their flaws and turn those flaws into a gaping weakness, a weakness that could be exploited.
Tapping a hand against his leg, he began to speak again.Drake Nygma: “Alas the story of my origin, the unsanitized version is far too horrible, far too messy for this world that has turned soft. All I'll say for now is that my descent into the dark began with wanting to save someone , wanting to protect.”Part Two: A brief respiteEndless years had passed in silence, the blade had been laid down. The killings simply stopped, the bodies ceased to be dropped. For a time he knew happiness, had found a measure of peace, a peace that quieted the violent storm of his warlike mindset, for a time. And only a very short time at that.
Like all good things, the peace couldn’t last. The happiness did come to an end, one day just after the turn of the century, the new year had started, as always with new year's resolutions getting made, and subsequently shattered rather quickly.
In the end learning this lesson had made him stronger, harder, colder. Like ice. Or perhaps stone. Either way all that really mattered was that he had seen the folly of attempting to be a man of peace. Peace was not his path to walk.
Thus the life of peace drew to a close, now he stood at a crossroads, needing to make a choice.
In his mind, it really wasn’t a choice. Not at all. Violence was his path, the solitary path he walked, much like the fighter he had become, he would go it alone, adding yet more bodies to his kill count, his mission starting anew, unyielding, without remorse.Drake Nygma: “Once more into the fire, there is work to be done. I’ll need you to look away now love” a whispered confession, a form of regret shared with the woman who had shown him happiness, love for a period of time before it all had crashed down around him.He watched from a distance as the shadows returned, marking the time for his return to form, the form he’d started out with, a form composed of flesh and sheer force of will. His work was set to begin, every path had always been leading to here, to this moment, to the turning point.Part Three: Abandon hope all ye who enter hereLantern’s swayed in the breeze, the only source of illumination as a rocking chair came into view, a rocking chair in which a masculine figure exuding quiet energy sat so calmly, so still as to appear motionless.
Motionless like an ethereal figure, composed of smoke and shadows, intangible, imperious, unpredictable in its speech, in its actions, at the core of who they were.
Leaning forward in the chair, his facial features came into view, the swaying of the lantern in the background causing the lights to only show half of his face.Drake Nygma: “Good evening one and all, by now you’ve no doubt heard a great many stories, stories about me, about what I’ve done in the past. Consider those stories a cautionary tale, a fable about the consequences of decision making.”Plumes of aromatic white smoke billowed around the figure, providing an ominous visage of a man, a well built man knowledgeable in the ways of chaos. Chaos was something that he’d worked to master, to turn against his enemies, against any who would dare get in his way.
The scent of fire whispered through the air, offering a campfire like vibe to the moment, a vibe that played into the quietly terrifying demeanor of the figure present. Drake Nygma: “And yet none of those stories are even remotely close to the truth. The truth is far more exhaustive, far more mysterious. Maybe someday I’ll tell you the full story. Maybe.”A pause happened here, a pause that went on for what felt like hours, but in reality was more like five and a half minutes.
Rising to his feet, his steps causing dust to rise into the air, a hand reached out brushing against the side of a solid oak tree, the wood feeling pliable and aged beneath his hand, a smile tipped his lips as if he had performed this gesture a thousand times before. Maybe he had. Maybe he’d done all of this before.
Maybe all that was happening was just replaying events from his past with the sole difference being that newer characters, newer opponents were set before him like a platter, a challenge being offered without request.Drake Nygma: “Which brings me to the current day. The current challenge. Timothy Mac. This is the first time you and I’ve been booked to fight one another, the stakes? World title contendership. That would be enough of a prize for most men, I consider that secondary to the carnage of competition.”Another pause was taken here, a few beats of silence passing, offering up a complex intricate silence, letting the minds of all who behold him filling in the blanks, about who he was, what he’d done, about the nature of the dedication that guided his hand.Standing still, the figure now overlooked the swirling darkness, turning back to whisper one more time.Drake Nygma: “All you can do is keep fighting, make sure that you are worthy of the legacy you are seeking to create. This is what everyone is supposed to do, to make sure that those who come after us carry lighter burdens.”With that a lit match was tossed, the rocking chair now a fascinating display of flames. The scent of burning wood filtered into the air, causing a true and genuine smile to form upon the lips of the man known as Drake Nygma. His true name was used rarely, as was only proper. As was only acceptable in the mind of an entity who’d be born in a world where rules were followed to an extreme, to a point that most modern day folk could never or would never understand.Drake Nygma: “You want to see something really scary? Imagine a world of those driven by greed, driven by the constant chase of the material, imagine selfishness allowed to grow unchecked, the innumerable weakness of man festering like sickness…”Clapping his hands together, a booming deep laughter rocketed through the air.Drake Nygma: “There must be a check and balance against that corruption, against that filthy pulsating rot. Which is why I’m here. My job, Dare I even say my calling, is to clear out the poisonous weed of corruption, of clout chasing, selfish souls consumed by a covetous need for more…. More possessions, more money, just more of everything.”Drake growled ever lower at that, the sound seemingly coming from somewhere deep, somewhere hidden, a sound that was not that of a mortal man. The entity living in Drake’s soul was old, was angry, was born to battle, was not an entity of peace. All this fed into the overarching ambition to rid the world of those who he saw as ugly, as wicked and lost.He would not fail. Not in this most important of missions.Part Four: Let us in.In a fast moving blur the scene had changed to a brightly lit corridor, a corridor that led to the entrance of the arena Hard Rock Wrestling would visit in the days to come. Drake’s figure slithered down the corridor, his presence serpentine, slow moving, relaxed, his entire being methodical and calculated like much the serpents of old.Drake Nygma: “Hard Rock Wrestling. I’m here. All you have to do…. Is Let Us In. Let us save you, let us erase the rot in your minds, in your blood. Don’t resist, it'll be easier that way.”No more words were said, no more sounds were heard save for the slamming of a door, a door that led to who knows where… Drake’s chaotic mind no longer recognized reason or the world in which he’d awoken, only the chaos remained. For a second from behind the door, an echo of unstable mutterings broke outwards, the words themselves didn’t make any sense and nor did the spine chilling growls that came from within.
All this left the question, who or what was Drake Nygma? Man? God? Saviour? Or something much darker, something much less palatable to the senses. All these questions would in theory get answered in the months, in the years to come from this moment on. Maybe.
The final image on screen bore the words ‘Do come and fight, we welcome you. We all welcome you. Fight… Fight… Fight…. Fight…”
